How Tech4Service Ltd collects, uses, and protects your information.

Tech4Service Ltd ("we", "us") operates tech4service.ca and provides computer repair and IT services in Edmonton, Alberta.
Information we collect
When you contact us, book an appointment, or drop off a device, we may collect:
- Name, phone number, and email address
- Device information relevant to your repair (model, serial number, issue description)
- Payment information processed through our payment provider — we do not store full card numbers on our servers
- Communications you send via contact forms, email, or phone
How we use information
- Provide repair quotes, service updates, and pickup notifications
- Process payments and maintain service records
- Respond to support requests and warranty claims
- Improve our website and services (aggregated analytics only)
Device data
During repair we may access files on your device solely to complete the requested service. We do not browse personal files beyond what is necessary. If data recovery is requested, we treat your data as confidential and return or securely delete working copies per your instructions.
Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We share data only with service providers necessary to operate (payment processing, email delivery) or when required by law.
Cookies & analytics
Our website may use cookies for basic functionality and anonymous traffic analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
Retention
Service records are retained as needed for warranty support, accounting, and legal requirements, then securely deleted. Working copies created during data recovery are returned to you or destroyed once the job is complete and you have confirmed a successful handover.
Payment security
Card payments are handled by our PCI-compliant payment provider. Card numbers are entered directly with the processor and are never stored on tech4service.ca servers. In-shop payments are processed on secured terminals. For invoices sent by email, payment links point only to our verified processor.
How we protect devices in our care
Devices left for repair are stored securely on-site and accessed only by authorized technicians. We recommend backing up important data before any repair; where a backup is part of the work order, we confirm the destination and retention with you first. If you provide account passwords to test a repair, we ask that you change them afterward and we do not retain them.
Third-party services
We use a small number of trusted providers to operate the site and business: a payment processor, an email/SMTP delivery provider for notifications, and privacy-respecting website analytics. Each provider processes only the data required for its function and is bound by its own privacy and security obligations.
Cookies you can control
Essential cookies keep core site features working. Optional analytics cookies help us understand which pages are useful, in aggregate and without identifying you personally. You can block or clear cookies at any time in your browser without losing access to our services.
Your privacy rights (PIPEDA / Alberta PIPA)
Under Canada's PIPEDA and Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act, you may ask what personal information we hold, request a correction, or withdraw consent for non-essential processing. Children's privacy
Our services are directed to adults and businesses. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will delete it.
