Computer Turns On But No Display
Fans spin, lights on, but monitor stays black — troubleshooting steps before you replace parts.

A PC that powers on with no picture is one of the most common desktop repair calls we see. The fix is often simple; sometimes it needs board-level work.
Check the monitor first
Confirm the monitor is on the correct input (HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA). Try a different cable and port on the GPU — not the motherboard video port if you have a dedicated graphics card. Test the monitor with another device if possible.
Reseat RAM and cables
Power off, unplug, and reseat RAM sticks and GPU. A slightly loose card after moving a tower is a frequent cause. One stick of RAM at a time can isolate a bad module.
Listen for beep codes
Some motherboards beep on POST failure. No beep at all with fans running may mean the board isn't completing power-on self-test — possible CPU, RAM, or board fault.
GPU vs integrated graphics
If you have a dedicated GPU, try removing it and plugging the monitor into the motherboard (if your CPU has integrated graphics). That tells us whether the GPU or something else failed.
When it's board-level
No POST, no beeps, USB devices don't light up — possible motherboard or power delivery failure. Tech4Service diagnoses before quoting board repair or replacement.
